Documenting the story of New Zealand’s railway system from the 7 km line between Christchurch and Ferrymead, opened in 1863, to the beginning of the Tranz Rail/Toll era in 1995, this program contains a wide variety of coverage taken from newsreels, publicity films and enthusiast footage of steam, diesel and electrically hauled trains in action around New Zealand through the years.
Among the original promotional films featured in their entirety are Railways of the Scenic Wonderland from 1939 and Changing Railways/Engines from 1954/57.
